Make your child an early learner

About Us

A Brief History

Early Learner was established at the beginning of 2009 by two brothers, Carl and Nick Tinker.

Carl Tinker graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management in 2003 and has been at the forefront of national sales for over 6 years, gaining enormous credibility for his work with the Police Service and UK Government.

Nick Tinker graduated from Huddersfield University in 2006 and has been in Retail Management for 4 years. Through working for a number of major UK retail stores, most notably The Walt Disney Company, Nick has developed a vast knowledge of what it takes to provide a great consumer service.

Craft trade has been in the Tinker family for over 20 years, with the parents of Carl and Nick, trading under the name of L & P Crafts. As the popularity of the educational products grew, so did the idea that Early Learner could bring these products to the whole of the UK.

The Early Learner website was set up in April 2009 and continues to thrive. Whilst the initial set up of Early Learner was directed at individuals and organisations that deal with the development of children, Carl and Nick both believed that it is also parents themselves who need aids such as the Quiet Book, Elephant Clock, Baby’s First Book, My ABC Train and many more, to teach their children. So whilst these amazing products continue to fill nurseries all over the UK, parents can now have just as much fun and create a teaching environment in their own home.

Cognitive Learning Through Play

Through preschool and nursery play, cognitive development is nurtured and enhanced. Play also plays a large part in enhancing children’s school readiness. It is up to nursery teachers, parents and daycare providers to offer the ideas, equipment, and environment which allow children to learn and explore.

So What is Cognitive Development?

Cognitive development focuses on developing functions of the brain such as thinking, learning, awareness, judgment, and processing information. From the ages of 2-7, children are in the pre-operational stage. At this point they are learning to use symbols such as language to represent objects, and beginning to understand the concept of conversation. It is also the phase in which memory and imagination is developed.
